Beefeater

Beefeater barbecues or as some like to say beefeater barbeques (regional spelling differences) are award winning and are made by the company Beefeater from Austrailia. The beefeater bbqs can be found being sold worldwide. This is because of the extreme quality of the bbqs which is reflected in the numerous awards the company has won.

The grills come in stainless steel (304) or in porcelain black (note these are not powdercoated or in enamel). This set up makes the barbecues scratch resistant and offer the kit to be more durable than other competing grills.

The Beefeater Discovery Range

The beefeater discovery bbq is like an entry level model for beefeater grills. When we say entry level dont let this put you off these are amazing pieces of kit that can come in many different variances to suit even the most prolifent barbecuers.

The range options for beefeater discovery barbecues are as follows:

beefeater discovery 2

beefeater discovery 3

beefeater discovery 4

beefeater discovery 5

So the models above differ on basically the number of burners the grills have, so the option on which to choose will depend on how many people the grill will be used for. The 2 burner grill is quite small and enough for 1-2 people. If you wish to entertain people for a bbq you will need the 4 or 5 burner options

Beefeater Discovery bbq features

There are 2 looks the Metal trolley or a Hardwood trolley. The hardwood trolley is made of kempass hardwood. Apart from that the fatures are the same across the range:

Porcelain coated barbecue burners

Integral hood with viewing window

Optional side burners

Double insulated stainless steel hoods (roasting hoods)

Scratch resistant porcelain enamel

Rust free cooking surfaces (cast iron cooking surface)

Also its important to note that the beefeater bbqs come with a 5-year warranty on the roasting hoods and stainless steel chassis.

So if your looking for a simple robust barbecue/grill then the beefeater barbecue may be the one for you or the beefeater bbq is defintaely something to be considerd.

You may find weather vanes in gardens, they can attach to a gazebo or a shed for example other places to fit a weather vane also know as a wind vane is on the roof or cupola.

What does a weather vane do? Well a weather vane is used to tell the direction of the wind. This is shown by some kind of pointer pointing in the direction the wind is blowing. This can be achieved through the specific design and the momentum of the design around the axis.

With most weather vanes they also have the geographical directions marked below the pointer to tell which way the wind is blowing.

Weather vanes come in all shapes and sizes. The most common type you may have seen is a cockerel which are know as weather cocks. Other examples are horse weather vanes, eagle weather vane, airplane weather vanes and dog weather vanes. These design although good looking are not the most practical of weather vanes due to the uneven distribution and shape of the object. Weather vanes can also come in many different materials such as copper weather vanes and wooden weather vanes, which are 2 of the most common types.

So if your looking for a garden weather vane then there are many options, some people even attempt to make a weather vane. If you want to make your own custom weather vane you can read about making a weather vane here.

The leatherman tools are a very cool gadget for using in the garden. Leatherman was a grduate of 1970 from the Oregan state university majoring mechanical engineering. Very much a perfectionist he had work to produce the first prototype over several years leading to the first patent in 1980.

The leatherman tools are of the highest quality and give a 25 year guarantee from the manufacturer.

For the budding gardener the leatherman hybrid is a great tool and has to be the most advanced pruner available. The leatherman hybrid has been tested and recommended by the national home gardening club. The tool is made from 100% stainless steel and can do many tasks such as remove weeds and prune plants/flowers.

Here are some further specs of the Leatherman hybrid:

wire cutters

bypass pruner

weed remover

screwdrivers (phillips and flat)

sprinkler tool

bottle opener

non slip handles

ruler

nylon sheath

Leatherman also do loads of other tools such as the keychain tool the leatherman micra, a pocket multi tool called the leatherman juice Xe6, and the larger multi tools the leatherman wave and leatherman surge.

The primary difference between the Leatherman tools and a Swiss Army knifes is that a leatherman tool is a pair of pliers with other tools stored around its handles and the Swiss Army knifes are aknife with other tools stored in the handle.

Have you ever seen a motorized wheelbarrow? Wow I could have done with one of these last summer when I hauled stones of brick from an old wall out of my garden last summer. I can tell you a 100 yard walk with a wheelbarrow full of bricks does no good for your back.

A motorized wheelbarrow may also be known as a micro dumper/micro digger or toe-hoe, it has 4 wheels and a hydraulic tipping system.

The first motorized wheelbarrow was introduced in 1986 and had 2 wheels like the convential wheelbarrows we are used to seeing. This though obviously had to be supported by the user and was not very user friendly hence the development of a 4 wheel electric powered wheelbarrow.

Muck truck has become the most popular micro dumper (pedestrian). It is a 4-wheel drive and the user walks behind it. The machine is capable of shifting upto 500 lbs of material and it can navigate most surfaces/terrains. This baby is ideal for a landscaper or gardener it copes easy with anything you throw at it - mulch, trees, soil, bricks etc.

It can go forward in 4 different speeds and can also reverse, this is all controlled via the operator using a hand throttle. Its motorized wheel barrows size also allows it to fit through most standard doors/gates or fences.

Normally landscaping is used to make a garden or front yard look more appealing, if you have kids though you will also want it to be functional and having input from the kids will make it a more succesful project all round.

To get the children involved in lanscaping the garden here are some tips or suggestions

You will be able to communicate how the plants are important and must be taken care of. You will be able to show them how you take care of living stuff like plants and animals in the garden, giving them responsibility and prepare them as they grow older.

You can allot a kids play area, make the place welcoming to the kids.

You may encourage the children to start a little garden all of their own. Kids can also be shown how to plant things in flowerbeds and small plant pots. When you need to do some gardening work this will then keep the kids occupied to let you get on.

The time involved in landscaping together will be a great family activity, some special bonding time. The kids will love the attention and will help out in watering and weeding the plants.

Most people dont really consider in using vegetables when they landscape their garden and concentrate more on flower and plant arrangements. Vegetables though can make a great display and add to the beauty of the garden too.

Find below some tips and quidelines in vegetable landscaping:

make sure that you place importance on the fact of crop rotation. Focus should be placed on the land type and how the crops work with it and not how pretty it looks. Not saying it has to be ugly but dont go for complete beauty over functional or it will fail.

Following on from that you can pick out attractive vegetables to provide a nice visual landscaping effect.

Ensure the choosen veggies are easily maintained.

Mulch is like a protective cover that you place over your soil. (...)

Mulch is like a protective cover that you place over your soil. Mulching your garden serves many purposes, it is used in landscaping to increase the look of the garden maybe to make it blend better with the surroundings. Other benefits are root protection, not having to weed or fight pests as much, make the soil richer providing nutrients for it and retaining mositure therefore meaning less time spent watering the soil.

Mulch Types

There are organic and inorganic mulches. For the organic mulches they are made from natural substances, here are some examples.

Organic Mulches

For a newly seeded area Straw can make a great organice mulch, it needs to be replaced more often though due to quick decomposition and care needs to be taken in application due to its light weight.

You can use the grass from a mowed lawn as an organic mulch, make sure it is not wet upon application as it can clump together in a mat so dry well before using. Also ensure you dont use grass clippings that have been treated with something like a herbicide. As grass is rich in nirtogen it can be used well in a vegetable mulch.

Sawdust is another alternative for an organic mulch. A tip would be to let the sawdust decompose with some soil which will prevent it from blowing away and also from matting up in the wet. Also its best to use just as a layer above the soil, if you introduce the sawdust with the soil the nitrogen content can be reduced.

Inorganic Mulches

A top choice as an inorganic mulch is recycled rubber. Recycled rubber can be used as a great alternative to bark and it can also look natural. There are many advantages with recycled rubber mulch - it is safe, lasts long, soil temperatue is regulated, weed growth prevention and can enhance the retention of water.

Another type of inorganic mulch is plastic. This is completely different to rubber as it water and air penetrating or getting out, it keep the soil warm and it will not decompose. For plastic mulches you need an irragation system. The growth of plants through using plastic mulches is accelerated as from the additional heat produced and the increased moisture.

Conclusion

So there you are a nice breakdown on the mulches available and the pros and cons of each type. For a landscaping viewpoint ensure the mulch you choose has the visual impact you desire also for the surrounding climate.
