Okay the statement above is a bit of an exaggeration, but patio designing is an extremely satisfying part of the process of transforming an outside area. Patio design needn't be about creating something to feature in the glossiest of patio design magazines, rather it should be about designing something that is perfect for what you want from your patio area. Of course if you want your patio to feature in "Top Patio Designs Monthly" then go for it. More likely though is that your ideas for a patio will be based around functionality and comfort.

In my own case, I have around 20 patio designs and builds to my credit. Each patio design has been more or less completely different according to the requirements of the particular homeowner (or potential patio owner). My process for patio designing begins by focusing on what the users of the patio require from, and like in, a patio and and how they view and understand the patio designs process.
